Sizzler Series: The Beef & Cheddar

I don’t know how popular the Sizzler is outside of the midwest. I’m really not too sure how popular this Sizzler is in the midwest either. I always showcase my hamburgers on here, I’ll showcase the shaved-steak-on-the-Blackstone meals.. but what happens when you combine those two into a frozen patty?

And you’re seeing Series – because I think we’re going to have 3-4 different cooks all using the sizzler. Let’s go while I describe what a sizzler is.

The Stehouwer’s Premium Beef Sizzler is a “seasoned beef and pork pattie between slices of beef ribeye”. These things are to be kept frozen until ready to use. Burger wrapped in steak is a special combination, and we’re going to do this a couple different ways. The first one will be my take on an Arby’s Beef and Cheddar.

I do love a horseradish sauce on a roast beef sandwich. Something that doesn’t get talked about too much, or maybe it does and I just don’t know it – is the Arby’s Sauce. The red sauce that isn’t a barbeque sauce, but it kind of is. We’re just dumping in some hot sauce, ketchup, and sugar.. little bit of extra and cook it down. What we’re left with is a near replica of what I remember Arby’s Sauce was.

That’s the only thing that’s coming original from this post. We’re going to heat up the “cheddar”, cook the sizzler and assemble. Let’s get the Griddle fired up.


The Process

Cooked to instruction

Chisel the frozen beef patties away from each other and throw it on the hot griddle. That’s all we gotta go for this one. Make sure they’re cooked through and throw it all together. I was kinda glad to get this cheez wiz outta the fridge, and I know MrsForensicBBQ was too.

Paint the bun

We’re going to throw down a spread of that Arby’s Sauce copycat, and then throw our sizzler patty on top. Hit it with a layer of the cheese. We need enough cheese that it’ll drip when we bite it. But don’t go overboard on this plastic cheese product.

Side of fries and the leftover Arby’s Sauce is the way we’re finishing up this plating. I threw some horseradish sauce on a cup and will use that sparingly, I just wanted to try the ABC the way it was first. But then I did use quite a bit of horseradish sauce.

While sizzler’s aren’t an every day meal, they were particularly wonderful on this day. Stay tuned for more on our sizzler series.
