Leftover Ground Beef Crunchwraps

We’re doing a real quick post here. I didn’t do anything special with any of these, but thought I’d throw this post up as something different. You should be well aware that the Tex-mex cuisine is a heavy favorite in this household. I make ground beef tacos on the regular – mix up a pound of meat, make some tacos and refrigerate the rest. A quick 15-20 minute meal during the weekday is what I aim for, and it’s what I get.

The leftovers are usually either more tacos, maybe some nachos.. did enchiladas this past week actually, but sometimes, I do the Crunchwrap. That’s what I did here using all store-bought products and leftover meat (with the addition of MrsForensicBBQ’s homemade pico de gallo though!). Make sure you read to the end, because a week or two later, I did a Crunchwrap variation that was… interesting. Let me know your thoughts on it!

Recipe

We’re going almost all pictures for this one. The recipe will let you know my ingredients, but the process will walk you though the steps. Let’s go!

The Prep Table

Nothing too exciting here

Big ol’ burrito tortilla, some tostada shells (These were baked ones, and really good), Taco Bell hot sauce, Pace brand chemical cheese, and Old El Paso Mexican blend. The best things aren’t shown too well, so here ya go:

My usual seasoned ground beef (with my blend of seasoning) and some leftover MrsForensicBBQ pico!

I microwaved the meat and the chemical cheese sauce – but everything else is just add and go. Once the ingredients that needed hot got hot, we’re getting some oil in the pan.

The Process

Step by step, walk it out. Once we’re at number eight, the fold is pretty simple. Make one fold towards the center, and walk it around until you’re left with a kind of hexagon shape. Scroll to the Bonus part to see what it’ll look like ass-end up.

The Result

Here’s another example of an “I failed in the end result pic”. To be fairrrr, I didn’t think I’d actually be posting this one. It was only until after I had made my “BONUS” Crunchwrap below, that I thought, why not – I’ll throw it up there.

Didn’t do a cross-section. I ate it.

Crunchwraps are no doubt one of the best items to get at the Bell. This one is a little bit different in that there’s no sour cream or lettuce, but it satisfied the palate. When I do another Crunchwrap post, it’ll be given the appropriate attention – better meat, Blackstone, fresh ingredients. and definitely the Mrs’s pico!

Bonus

So I had an idea. It wasn’t the greatest idea, but it was an idea nonetheless. You miss 100% of the shots you don’t take, right?

This was mediocre at best. I crunch wrapped a grilled cheese sandwich. I don’t know why I did it. I ate it, enjoyed it, but still was like… “why”.

Same Crunchwrap style…

Buttered two pieces of bread and laid them on the pan. Put a kraft’s slice on each, then a piece of provolone on one and a tostada shell on the other. (Again, why did I do this?). Once the bread got nice and toasted and the cheese melty, I combined the sandwich and kept flipping until the bread was the right about of toasted.

Then I laid out the burrito tortilla, sprinkled a little bit of cheese, placed the sandwich, lil’ more sprinkle cheese, then folded it up. Toasted her up and this time, I deliver on the cross section.

Grilled Cheese Crunchwrap?

Yeah, it was cheesy for sure. It was grilled.. it was exactly as described. A little bonus picture for you, because I decided why the hell not. Thanks for reading the post my friends! See you next week!

Recipe

Leftover Ground Beef Crunchwraps

ForensicBBQ
Taco night is a frequent night in the household – but with the left over beef, let's do something different!

Ingredients

  • 1/4 Cup Ground beef Cooked, reheated
  • 1/4 Cup Shredded cheese
  • 1/8 Cup Pico de Gallo Homemade!
  • 2-3 Tbsp Nacho Cheese
  • 2-3 Tbsp Hot Sauce
  • 1 Tostada
  • 1 Burrito-sized Tortilla Plus a piece of another
  • 1 Tbsp Olive Oil

Instructions

  • Reheat the ground beef however you prefer. I microwaved it for optimum speed.
  • Heat oil in a skillet on medium-high heat.
  • Assemble ingredients as such: Tortilla, half of shredded cheese, Tostada, Beef, Pico, Nacho Cheese, hot sauce, rest of the shredded cheese, piece of tortilla.
  • Fold tortilla up in a circular pattern (or hexagon) – just folded up and wrapped.
  • Place opening down into skillet and cook to seal the tortilla. Cook for about 3-4 minutes, flip and toast the other side.
  • Enjoy!

Notes

Using just leftovers!  Quick and easy 5 minute meal.  Add your own fun ingredients – sour cream, jalapeños, lettuce, guacamole – endless possibilities.
