The RecTeq Totino’s Pie

So I got a phone call that I’d be out of state for little while. I know I got some Forensic Friday’s to attend to, so I want to make sure I give y’all something. Now, I know the whole hog, the picanhas, the trompo cooks is what you’re looking for. I had days before I knew I was leaving. So you’re getting the glamorization of one of my guilty pleasures: The Totino’s Party Pizza.

Update (18 Jun): Duration of travel wasn’t what I had thought, but I got this one going for you anyway. MrsForensicBBQ threw a monster post at you this past Monday, so I have no problem taking backseat (again) and sharing this one.

The Prep Table

Unwrap. That’s the prep for this week.

Okay, there’s no real preparation for this one whatsoever. We’re going to unwrap this and throw it on the RecTeq. Single ForensicBBQ used to throw these on the oven grates and deal with the dirty oven at a later time. Married ForensicBBQ doesn’t want to get yelled at, so it’s either deal with the soft crust on a pan sheet, or we’re taking it outside.

Today we’re taking it outside.

Might as well glam it up.

In addition to adding my own pepperoni on top of this square wonder, we’re going to put a slight spray of that Cornhusker on the pizza stone as it heats up to 450. Once your RecTeq tells you it’s 450, let it stay there as that pizza stone heats up good. Hell, we’ve gone this far, don’t cut corners now.

The Process

Totino’s on the pizza stone

This pizza product was, and still is, my gauge of supermarket inflation. I used to get these for a dollar. Now they’re on sale for $2, regularly about $2.50. I stay apolitical on here, but c’mon now.

We’re cooking these as directed on the package. My go-to Totino’s is the “Classic Pepperoni” – but I think I could go for any of them. Let me know if you want a full-on Totino’s taste tester, I have no shame.

The guilty pleasure pie.

Take the spatula and lift that crust up a bit – check for that crispy cracker crust that’s iconic. That grease will darken the top of the pie, but you bought the party pizza for the party – that crust.

The Result

Add a little fun

In addition to the extra pepperoni, I’ve been known to add some Frank’s Red Hot, garlic powder, crushed red pepper, Flatiron Pepper Co. flakes, sriracha – anything to add a little bit more. Today, I went classic with crushed red pepper flakes and my Quick Bite: Smoked Garlic (Hand-ground Powder). Man, this pie hits every time. And it did later on, but we’re not talking about that.

Love me some Totino’s.. I hope you enjoyed this fun, short, evergreen kind of post. While a significant portion of my spring/summer is being cut short because of work, looking forward to coming back hard!
