Mujadara

What is Mujadara?! Basically, this is a Middle Eastern dish that consists of lentils, rice, and onions. I was worried that this dish wouldn’t be a full meal or would be better as a side dish, but I was pleasantly surprised! This dish goes really well with falafel! And it was very filling and delicious reheated.

This dish is simple as well! All we need are lentils, basmati rice, a yellow onion, cinnamon, and allspice.

To start, cook the lentils and rice. Yes, the lid on the jar in the picture says baby lima but it’s actually lentils.

While the rice and lentils are cooking, chop the onion and cook it in a pan with some water until the onion starts to brown.

Cooked

Once the onions start to brown, season them with the cinnamon and allspice. Mix everything together and you are ready to eat!
