This is really just a quick post of appreciation for a easy meal with local ingredients. MrsForensicBBQ and I were coming back from a little festival in the Midwest and stopped off at a roadside produce stand. While we don’t say too much outside of food on here, we’ve had a bizarre year. Life got in the way and we didn’t take any of our normal hiking/camping vacations. What we were able to do this summer is find little day-outing festivals and made the most of ’em!
Belledine’s Barbecue Sauce and Seasonings | TDW’s Rockin’ Seasonings
MrsForensicBBQ was going to make her Orange-Glazed Sweet Potatoes and I was going to grill up this steak/corn. Going back to local, check out our friends Belledine’s and TDW’s – small business is the heartbeat of America, so show them some love! I used the Belledine’s Steak & Chop on my steak and seasoned up my corn with the TDW’s. I like a simple buttered corn, but I REALLY like a spicy seasoned corn.
Hers and His corn. I’ve done the husk-on method, I’ve done the soaked method. I’ve done the naked cob method (as pictured) – and really it doesn’t matter too much one way or the other.
Told ya. That corn was delicious. Now my times were all screwed up, so I ate in shifts. I wanted to do a reverse sear on the steak, so that means the corn was going to be done before the steak. Was a nice day, didn’t mind staying out there and making sure it was all the way I wanted it. MrsForensicBBQ got her taters and corn ready to complete her dish – I was just going to eat the corn while it was hot. Then eat the potatoes while they were hot. And then the steak.
While I don’t always try her meals, it’s fun seeing what she comes up with. These potatoes are always good, and I always gotta try one or a dozen of these. Go read her write up on these, well worth your time!
What a way to finish it up. Local roadside, homegrown corn seasoned with the small business seasonings. When you can, show your small businesses some love. More times than not, it’s a labor of love. Sometimes it’s a hobby to grab a couple of bucks – sometimes it’s their livelihood. I can say on this meal, both TDW and Belledines’ were a very welcome addition to this meal. Y’all know I like making my own, doesn’t mean I won’t try theirs as well. Thank you TDW, thank you Belledine.. and thank you small, local business!
