Happy New Year! Random 2020 Cooks

Hey, I know 2020 was rough for everyone. Let’s end this year with some good food, some big smiles, and my personal thank you.

I enjoy the culinary world. I hope you’ve seen how much time/effort I put into the smallest details (rubs and sauces, this far.. Part 3 being the sides). Even when I don’t feel like wheeling out the smoker, I like to get the pans out and make something new. And ground beef tacos – which is a staple in the ForensicBBQ household.

I hope to feature some more of Mrs. ForensicBBQ on here, as she makes some outstanding soups, sides, and dishes. She hasn’t gotten herself to the smoker yet, but I’ve had her at the RecTeq Matador before!

Enjoy a medley of some random foods throughout the year. Sign up for e-mails and get these updates e-mailed to you. If you don’t know, I’m in the Digital Forensics business.. I know how devious a lot of these Silicon Valley companies are.. and I’ll absolutely never sell any e-mails, info, or anything else like that. That’s why you don’t see.. and won’t see.. any ads or paid ventures. I’m not trying to make money on this. This year has been the best of my life (I know, even with the china virus) – and I hope you can continue to enjoy what you see here.

Cowboy Burger | Grain Bowl | Kielbasa

Philly Cheesesteak | Hasselback Potatoes | Bean Tostadas

Pork Butt | Funny Memes | My Thank You

Cowboy Burger

Your cowboy burger has the onion ring and BBQ sauce on there. Shown here is the frozen Meat District burger, baked onion ring, homemade BBQ sauce, some spicy jalapeño pickles and provolone cheese. And whatever leftover oven fries I had.

Grain Bowl

My wife knocks some recipes out of the park, and she put together an awesome grain bowl here. I’m a meat-itarian, so I don’t know what these things are in there.. I think they’re healthy though.

Mrs. ForensicBBQ and her veggie grain bowl

Kielbasa with Peppers and Onions

Nothing a whole lot special here.. Angle-cut sliced kielbasa and sautéed pepper/onion/garlic. What’s not seen is the bed of red beans and rice I placed these on top of.

Kielbasa was always a staple growing up.

Philly Cheesesteak

Shaved steak, provolone cheese, green peppers and onions. Man, I forgot about this one – it was an outstanding sammich.

Hasselback Potatoes

Garlic butter, Rosemary and them sliced Yukon Golds. Pro tip: Slice a bit off the bottoms to stabilize the tater, and use chopsticks on either side when making your cuts!

Bean Tostadas

I usually have leftover tostadas from my homemade Crunchwrap experiments, and the wife always has refried beans in the cupboard. When I need a quick, easy meal – enter the tostada

Pico, shredded cheese.. and I forgot the name of this specific sauce.. probably wasn’t hot though.

Pork Butt

I probably made more pork shoulder this year than any other. Was recruited for a lot of retirement parties and other shenanigans. This was an early January 2020 smoke. See if you can find my smoking partner.

Funny Memes

Here’s to 2021 and hope these can put a smile on your face. These were probably sent to me from my close-knit smokers (I see you Pup, Machine, Slide, Wolf)

My Thank You

I started this thing to put my profession and hobby on display. I was getting ready to leave my last job and started this blog to get the word out for future employers. Before I could get it properly launched, I landed at then new place and it’s been 100% barbecue, 0% digital forensics.

I’m still a “fresh fish” at the new place, but I doubt I’ll be permitted to post on career-related activities. However, ForensicBBQ is still a unique name – and at least I can share my hobby with y’all.

Please consider checking out the social media links on the right-side of the menu – with Twitter being generally a hard fail, and Instagram being the more popular of the two. If you know me, I don’t do the socials very well, if at all.. but I try.

For those who have shared, commented, and subscribed to my e-mails, it means a lot to me. I hope I can inspire some ideas in your kitchen/garage/yard, and really hope you get something out of it.

I have a lot of great ideas coming up for 2021 – learned some new methods, received some great recipes and ideas (I see you Texas Red and CanalTuvez) and I can’t wait to share them with you.

From ForensicBBQ and Mrs. ForensicBBQ – we wish you the best and have a safe and prosperous New Year!
