It’s finally here! My first post with the word VEGAN in the title! As you may or may not know, not everything that is vegan is healthy. I covered this in a previous post, but here’s a refresher. Just because something is vegan it does not mean it’s not filled with sugar, chemicals, or preservatives. Vegans can eat poorly if they choose. Think about it- you can eat onion rings, French fries, Oreos-to name a few common foods. There are also vegan substitutes for almost anything, so you can eat mac ‘n cheese or pizza with soy cheese, vegan ice cream, etc. Eating a plant-based diet means eating mostly unrefined fruits, tubers, legumes, and vegetables and whole grains, limiting your intake of dairy, eggs, refined foods, and oils. For more information about this diet and assistance in making the change, I suggest you check out ForksOverKnives.com. It’s my go-to for recipes and dietary information.
Now, on to the foods! This vegan ranch dressing was so easy to make! Mr. FBBQ even tried it and liked it! That’s a success in my book!
We start with silken tofu. Easily found at stores like Whole Foods. Add a bit of plant-based milk (I use almond milk) and the tofu to the blender/food processor and puree until it’s smooth. Add in onion and garlic powder and blend it in. Chop up some fresh chives, dill, and parsley and add it to the creamy mixture. Stir it in and voila, you have vegan ranch dressing!
